Card of the Day - Arctic Kraken

Krakens and Leviathans are, without a doubt, the best creatures in Magic. This card is a tribute to those majestic behemoths. But it seems somehow inadequate.

Much better. This bad boy really gets across what it means to be a kraken.

Or does he?

There we go. All that text was distracting and the whole "creature" aspect was just confusing and negative. It had to go. And I bumped it up to Mythic Rare to represent that Krakens are mythic creatures of the deep. Now Essence of Kraken really ensures that you play the Kraken way.

But something still doesn't seem right...

Bingo. Can't have a Kraken that isn't a Kraken. That would just be stupid.

Original Art

  1. Amusingly, you have once again found me the art that I couldn't find. I had a card that was called Kraken Hegemon that gained control of all lands in play (and lost them back to their old controllers as a cumulative upkeep) but couldn't find any krakens I liked or that were doing any hegemoning so it became a serpent... and I hated that.

Now it can be a kraken and I am unreasonably happy.

So, the last version is nothing except drawback, right?

yes, I am making a land set, why do you ask?

  2. Go for it. You'll probably like reclaim.

  3. I LOVE THIS CARD! I'M PUTTING IT IN MY "I HATE MY LANDS" DECK! It's got Polar Kraken and Psychic Allergy and Walk the Eons. It's awesome.
